Summer 2017 saw MJ Finnigan Limited complete one of their largest contracts to date, the demolition of 13 blocks of flats on behalf of Rochdale Housing Association.
This city centre complex demolition project was awarded to MJ Finnigan Limited following an extensive pre – qualification and competitive tender process.
The 3 acre site was situated right in the heart of the busiest vehicular and pedestrian routes in the town. Due to the restrictive nature of the working environment the works had to be carefully planned mindful of the public and live business in the area.
The demolition was completed using specialist high reach demolition plant equipped with state of the art attachments.
The works also called for full site re mediation, removal of all buildings basements, slabs and foundations. These were crushed and used as backfill on site with the surplus retained for use on the main interchange project. Supplementary to the demolition there was a live HV electrical cable and Electricity Northwest substation which had to be protected and retained throughout the process. All works were agreed in advance with Electricity North West.
