Mayfield Demolition Works, Manchester

This contract was very high profile given its location adjacent to Piccadilly Train Station and the Mancunian way, so it was crucial that the right demolition contractor was appointed.

The challenges on site were numerous and included live water courses with buildings backing onto the River Medlock, close proximity of the retained buildings and client offices, a live river culvert with weight and loading restrictions, busy roads and many others.

During the works MJ Finnigan also adopted to the rapidly changing site conditions in delivering a variation in the form of an enabling works ground works package for the opening of a live public food and drink area.

We found Michael and his team to be very resourceful, applying a proactive approach to the challenges that faced them with a “can-do” attitude and would happily work with them again.

We would have no hesitation in approaching MJ Finnigan Ltd in the future and wish them all the best.

Hale Barns Shopping Centre

Having concluded the Final Account I wanted to record my thanks to your company and you personally, for the way you have dealt with the demolition at “The Square”.

We knew it was never going to be easy dismantling buildings within close proximity of neighboring occupiers, and it is always frustrating having to phase the demolition, especially when the phasing is introduced mid-contract.

I was impressed with the effortless way in which you dealt with the statutory undertakings, that aspect alone could have seriously delayed the work and the subsequent commencement of the reconstruction.

Nottingham University Campus

The site was split over two locations in the middle of a busy populated student accommodation area. It was imperative that the works were carried out safely and with no disruption to the running of the student areas.

In light of this we were happy to see that the works were done to a high standard and that there were no complaints.

Your professional manner in all aspects of health and safety made the works run smoothly without any accidents or incidents and I would recommend your company to any new clients.

Overall we have been very happy with the project delivery on what was a very challenging scheme. The works included the demolition of a number of different buildings in the town centre of Bolt on. This ranged from multi storey offices, shops, high rise retail units and residential flats.

Situated on the junction of Newport Street and Great Moor Street the large 1.5 acre site was positioned right in the heart of the busiest area of the town thus safety and consideration to members of the public was of paramount importance.

We would like to thank all at MJ Finnigan Ltd for delivering such a high profile demolition project which required a high level of liaison and planning and we are happy it has been completed on time, in budget and without accident or incident.

MJF Demolition worked collaboratively with external partners including the Local Authority, energy providers, consultants, and owner- occupiers to encourage the demolition works to proceed. Once in receipt of the statutory notices, MJF Demolition carefully planned out a safe method of demolishing the blocks, giving careful consideration to the close proximity with the other buildings whilst in amongst public footpaths and highways, all based in a busy town centre.

The project involved the demolition of five separate teaching blocks including the four storey teaching block, sports hall, science block, canteen and gymnasium buildings. Extensive asbestos removal and soft strip works were carried out prior to demolition. The specialist high reach demolition plant used for the multi storey teaching block was particularly impressive.

We were very happy with the professional manner in which all aspects of the job were dealt, especially as it was so high profile, featuring in the local press for such a long time.
