MJ Finnigan Limited are 1 of a small number of large national demolition contractors who have been successfully be placed on a 5 year framework contract with Wrexham Council for all of the authorities demotion contracts. The demolition contract for the Groves estate was awarded following a competitive tender process to the framework members and was completed in summer 2013.
The project involved the demolition of five separate teaching blocks including:-
Prior to the main demolition extensive asbestos removal was carried out under controlled condition by our ARCA accredited asbestos removal division. Following the issue of re occupation certificates MJ Finnigan operative commenced soft strip works and asset stripping. This included the salvage of over 5, 000 m2 of parquet flooring which was recycled and sold for resale.
The main demolition works were completed using super high reach demolition plant as seen in the photographs. One of the main issues on site was the control of dust which was defectively managed using a “Dust Boss” suppression unit which dampened down across the entire site.
Following successful demolition the entire site was remediated with all slabs and buildign foundations removed, crushed and recycled and then used as bakfill prior to top soiling and seeding.
