MJ Finnigan Ltd are happy to announce our latest new contract for The Demolition of the Municipal building in Cradley Heath being carried out on behalf of Sandwell Leisure Trust. Works commenced on site on Monday the 24th of September 2012.
The former council offices building originally opened in December 1938 and has recently been sold to Sandwell Leisure Trust. Following demoltion the site will be redeveloped into a new fire station and will also provide extra car parking spaces for the Haden Hill leisure centre which is located next door. The West Midlands Fire Authority expect the new station to be operational by late next year.
MJ Finnigan Ltd are utilising all local services and labour on the site as they are keen to support the local economy. All waste materials are being are being recycled in line with the companies environmental policy and our aims of acheicing 100% recycling rates.
The programme of works started with the asbestos removal before the internal removal of all fixtures, flooring and tiling began. Structural demolition will commence in early October with and the project will take approximately two months to complete. MJ Finnigan are working closely with the adjacent leisure centre to ensure that works are completed without any disruptoon to their daily activities.
A letter drop was carried out to the residents living in close proximity to the site before the work started, informing them of the project and contact details for MJ Finnigan should they have any queries about the work activity.
MJ Finnigan Ltd have previously completed several big contracts in the Midlands area and Michael Finnigan, the company director said, ‘” We are delighted to be working in the Midlands again and are looking forward to working together with the council and the leisure trust”.
